Guide to Online Marketing

by Jon

Oli Gardner from Unbounce has created a glorious infographic guide to starting online marketing from scratch. An accompanying blog post on SEOmoz explains each stage and how to implement over 6 months.

This is a great guide for both newbies to get going and for experienced marketers to check off you have completed.

It is nicely broken up into separate disciplines of

    Social media marketing
    Email Marketing
    Lead Generation
    Organic Search Marketing
    Conversion Rate Optimization
    Analytics
    Content Marketing
Paid Search marketing (pay per click)

The blog about the infographic breaks it down into a staged approach over 6 months. Each point links out to many other useful resources in each section and act as introductions to each stage.

Companies focused on these disciplines would be able to expand on each of these stages to help you further. So for example in point 11 Establish conversion goals and funnels, you can add an amount of 1 as the value of a goal when creating it if you do not have any other information,  rather than leave it blank. This gives you further metrics within analytics tools that let you know which goals are working and which aren’t with a dollar value – much more persuasive to management.

The guidelines are very nice and helpful to each and every reader. Online marketing includes a wider range of marketing elements than traditional business marketing due to the extra channels and marketing mechanisms available on the internet.
